About Hope Coliseum

The WVU Coliseum is a multipurpose arena situated at the Monongahela Boulevard, Morgantown, West Virginia. It is home field to the WVU Mountaineers sports teams, including the basketball teams for men's and women's, men's wrestling, gymnastics, and women's volleyball. The Coliseum was open for the public on December 1, 1970. It has a seating capacity of around 14,000 people. The arena underwent several renovations in 1994, 2013, and 2018, with a renovation cost of about $67.1 million. It is owned and operated by West Virginia University. McDevitt & Street Co. designed the architecture of the building. It features a new public address system, an innovative lighting system, a new video scoreboard, and a flourish floor design. The highest attendance record achieved at the stadium was on February 24, 1982, during a match between West Virginia and Pittsburgh. The very first event hosted by the venue was a Grand Funk Railroad concert, on December 1, 1970. This Coliseum is declared as one of the top sites for games such as the 1974 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Other events hosted here include the Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball tournament in 1984 and 1988 and the ECAC South Region Tournament organized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) in 1975 and 1976. You can purchase tickets for the events to be held at the WVU Coliseum Morgantown online with a flexible discounted rate at TicketsOnSale.com.
